Deliverables
Awareness Print Campaign | Investec Asset Management | Banking
The Brief
Investec is one of South Africa's most prominent private banks, built for high-net-worth individuals who expect their money to work as hard as they do.
The brief was to communicate Investec's investment philosophy in a way that cut through the typically dry, conservative world of financial advertising. The audience was sophisticated, successful, and had no patience for waffle.
The Execution
Rather than leading with numbers, graphs or reassuring corporate language, the campaign gave money a personality — and not a flattering one. Two copy-led print ads personified money as lazy, directionless and badly in need of discipline. One opened with "Let's face it. Money is a slob." The other declared "We don't care what colour your money is."
Both ads used nothing but bold typography and the Investec zebra, letting the writing do all the heavy lifting. The tone was irreverent, confident and deliberately provocative — a perfect match for a brand that positioned itself as Out of the Ordinary. No stock photography, no charts, no safety net. Just sharp copy and the conviction to run it.
The Outcome
The campaign reinforced Investec's reputation as a bank that thinks differently, speaking to high-net-worth investors in a voice they hadn't heard from a financial institution before.
